Description

  • Description:

Located in the traditional village of Mesochori, between Pylos and Methoni, this charming village house combines authentic local architecture with comfortable living spaces, lovely outdoor areas and beautiful views towards the sea.

Originally owned by a local family, the house was sold to foreign buyers in the 1990s, who carefully renovated it with respect for its original character and the traditional architecture of the village. The current owner has continued to maintain and improve the property over the years, preserving its charm while making it a comfortable and welcoming home.

The property stands on a plot of 254.43 m² and is arranged over three levels, with a total area of 194.32 m².

The main floor, measuring 113.50 m², forms the heart of the house. It features a spacious open-plan living and dining area with a beautiful wooden ceiling, exposed dark timber beams and a wood-burning stove positioned in the centre of the room. The high ceiling and natural materials create a warm and inviting atmosphere, while the generous space allows for several comfortable seating areas.

The living area opens onto a spacious terrace, shaded by a simple pergola with bamboo covering, as well as a small, narrow balcony. Both outdoor spaces enjoy views of the sea and the surrounding countryside, offering pleasant places to relax and enjoy the peaceful village setting.

On the same level, there is a separate kitchen, a spacious bedroom with a double bed and a comfortable bathroom.

An internal staircase leads to the attic, measuring 41.35 m². With its sloping wooden ceiling and exposed beams, this charming space has a cosy atmosphere and is large enough to accommodate two double beds, providing additional sleeping space for family members or guests.

The attic opens directly onto a lovely roof terrace, positioned between two traditional tiled roofs, above the kitchen of the main floor. This is one of the attractive features of the property, offering beautiful views over the red-tiled rooftops of the village, the green countryside and the sea. The terrace provides a peaceful and private outdoor space, ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or relaxing in the evening.

The lower level, measuring 39.47 m² including its bathroom, was originally the basement of the house and has been converted into a spacious guest bedroom. It accommodates two beds and has a separate bathroom with external access. This level also benefits from its own terrace, located directly below the terrace of the main living area, providing a pleasant outdoor sitting space.

The outdoor areas are an important part of the property's character. The traditional stone-paved courtyard, with its different levels, stone steps, blue metal railings and established Mediterranean plants, creates a charming and welcoming setting.

Climbing vines and greenery provide natural shade, while the various terraces and sitting areas offer several places to enjoy outdoor living. The covered terrace is particularly inviting during the warmer months, providing a lovely setting for outdoor meals and relaxation.

The whitewashed walls, traditional red-tiled roofs, wooden ceilings and exposed beams reflect the architectural character of the region and give the property a warm, authentic atmosphere.

Carefully renovated and improved over the years, the house has retained its traditional identity while offering comfortable accommodation across three levels. Its flexible layout, additional guest spaces, charming courtyard and terraces with sea views make it an appealing choice for a holiday home or a permanent residence in a peaceful Messinian village.

A characterful traditional home where authentic architecture, warm interiors and inviting outdoor spaces come together with beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding countryside.
